What is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is a treatment that bleaches and lightens discoloration of your teeth. Treatment takes place within a period of as little as 45 minutes.

How long do the results last?

After treatment, we advise you to follow some minor post whitening care. We also recommend regular brushing, flossing, and occasional touch-ups. Our clients tend to return every 6 - 9 months.

Who may benefit from tooth whitening?

​

Almost anyone can benefit from tooth whitening treatment, however there are some cases where the treatment may not be effective. I will determine if your a suitable candidate for the process through a thorough oral examination at your initial consultation.

Are there any side effects with teeth whitening?

​

A small percentage of people may experience sensitivity whilst undergoing tooth whitening treatment. On some occasions a tingling sensation can be felt after treatment but soon dissipates.

Will tooth whitening affect my dental work?

​

Tooth whitening will only whiten natural teeth so this excludes things like caps, crowns, veneers, fillings or dentures. Tooth whitening cannot be used in conjunction with fixed orthodontic appliances. Please speak to your dentist if you have any questions.

What causes tooth discoloration?

​

There are many causes of tooth discoloration. These commonly include ageing, consumption of things like tea coffee, cola and tobacco. Other less common causes lead from trauma, antibiotic staining, excessive fluoride, and nerve degeneration.
